However, firm international cues supported prices.
International gold rose 1 per cent to above $1,100 an ounce in Europe on Thursday as the dollar slipped against the euro, boosting interest in the precious metal as an alternative asset.
"Today is the last session and there is little trading interest," said a dealer in Mumbai. India's gold futures were higher on Thursday on international cues, analysts said. The benchmark February gold on the MCX was at 16,735 rupees per 10 grams, up 0.50 per cent at 4:08 p.m. Bombay Bullion Association, an association of retailers and wholesalers, on Thursday quoted spot prices for .999 purity at 16,745 rupees per 10 gm, up 10 rupees from the previous session.
