A leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir has sued 87 leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League and its associate organisations for an alleged attack on a procession at the Government Azizul Haque University College in Bogra.
Abdul Halim, office secretary of Shibir's Bogra town unit, filed the case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Wednesday and alleged that the local police station refused to register the case.
BCL Bogra district unit president Suvashish Podder Liton, college unit convener Mahmudunnabi Russel, district unit Juba League general secretary Sagar Kumar Roy, Sramik League leader Shamsuddin Sheikh Helal were among the accused.
Magistrate Hasanuzzaman asked the officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station to investigate the allegation of Shibir.
In the case details, the plaintiff alleged that the accused people were involved in an attack on a procession of Shibir that left at least 100 activists of the organisation injured.
The allegations also include that the accused persons were involved in vandalising furniture and computers worth Tk 5.55 lakh of students belonging to Shibir living in the dormitories.
Shibir leader Hussain Mohammad Manik lost an eye after he received a bullet in the eye, the plaintiff alleged.
At least 18 students were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Islami Chhatra Shibir at the college on Sunday.
BCL on Sunday night filed a case against 150 members of Islami Chhatra Shibir in connection with the clash that led to the closure of the college.
Following the case, police had raided college hostel and arrested several Shibir men.
